A quieter way to read Scripture. If something gets in your way, we would like to help.

Before you change or reinstall anything
If you have saved passages or searches, make an export first if the app still opens: Settings → Export saved data… Choose a location where you can find the file again. Confirm that the share completed and the file is present at your chosen destination before deleting anything.
Your library is stored on your device. Deleting the app can remove your only copy. We cannot recover it from an Origo account or server, because the app has neither.
Reading and finding passages
- Go to a passage: use the book/chapter chooser or Search. Enter a reference such as
Psalm 23orJohn 3:16. - Search words: enter words or a phrase in Search. Results use the selected translation and filters. If you cannot find something, check the translation, testament, book and chapter filters; familiar wording can differ between translations.
- Compare translations: turn on Parallel view to see each verse followed by the corresponding verse in another translation. A labelled gap means that translation does not include that verse; numbering can differ.
- Change the page: use Settings to choose a theme, reading font and Scripture text size. Larger iPhone text settings also affect the reading experience.
- Save or highlight: tap a verse to select it. Save preserves it without colour; a colour choice saves and highlights it. Use the selection's word-selection controls when you want an exact excerpt.
- Find saved passages: open Search, then “Saved passages.” Open a saved row to return to its source. Saved searches and recent searches are separate from this library.
The Berean Standard Bible, World English Bible and King James Version are bundled with the app. Reading and search work without an internet connection or an app account. Reader-only versions do not offer purchases. Supporter-enabled versions include the optional subscription controls below; meaning search and original-language search are not promised by this page.
Optional support and purchases
If your version includes Settings → Support Lumina, you can choose monthly or annual support. Both plans offer Supporter recognition and one additional reading palette. All functional features and existing themes remain free. The full localized charge and renewal period appear before Apple's purchase confirmation; there is no free trial.
Use Restore Purchases in Settings or Support Lumina with the Apple Account that purchased the subscription. Use Manage Subscription to change plans or cancel through Apple. Cancelling renewal keeps paid benefits until access ends. On expiry or revocation, the extra palette returns to Calm if selected; saved passages, searches and reading position are preserved.
For a pending purchase, wait for Apple's approval; do not repeatedly purchase. If product loading, purchase verification or restore fails, retry or contact us with the error wording. Do not send payment details or an Apple Account password. Apple handles billing and refund requests. Support includes no guaranteed response time or paid priority service. Apple's Standard EULA applies.
Daily reminders
In Settings → Today's Passage, choose a reminder time and turn on Daily reminder. Allow notifications when iOS asks. Reminders are optional and local to this device; reading works with them off.
If a reminder does not arrive:
- Check that Daily reminder is enabled in the app and read its status message.
- Check the app's notification permission in iPhone Settings.
- Check Focus and Scheduled Summary, which may delay delivery. iOS controls delivery, so an exact time is not guaranteed.
- Return to the app. If it shows a scheduling error, use its retry control.
Turn Daily reminder off in the app to cancel its pending reminder. Notification permission and Lock Screen presentation are controlled separately by iOS.
Backing up or moving saved data
Use Settings → Export saved data… to create readable JSON. It includes saved passages/highlights and their source snapshots, saved searches, translation preferences, the reading position and app/pack version information. It does not include recent-search history, reminders, theme, reading font/size or parallel-view settings. It is a portable saved-data file, not a complete device backup.
On the receiving installation, choose Settings → Import saved data…, select the original export file and review the confirmation before importing. Keep the original file until you have checked the result. If import reports a failure, preserve the original file and contact us with the exact error; do not edit the JSON or erase the existing library as a troubleshooting step.
The app's local database is also eligible for your iPhone backup. A restore depends on your backup settings and the backups available to you. There is no automatic library synchronization between installations.
Exports are not password-encrypted. Share them only with a destination you trust. We do not need a full export to begin helping you.
Clearing data
- Recent searches: turn off “Remember recent searches” in Settings to stop recording and erase the history. “Clear recent searches” removes the current list without disabling recording.
- Saved searches: use “Delete all saved searches” in Settings.
- Saved passages/highlights: use “Delete all saved passages and highlights” in Settings. Its Undo is temporary and ends when you leave that screen, background the app or make another annotation change.
- Reading defaults: “Reset reading preferences” resets translations, theme, font/size, parallel view and reading position, and turns reminders off. It preserves saved searches and passages and does not clear recent searches.
- All app-local data: use iOS “Delete App.” Offloading or removing the Home Screen icon is different. Old backups and exported copies remain separate and must be managed where they are stored.
If the app shows an error or will not open
If an error mentions the Bible content or saved-data storage, note its exact wording. Close and reopen the app, and check that your iPhone has available storage. If the problem continues, contact us before deleting or reinstalling it. Do not assume a file was saved or an import succeeded if the app reports a failure.
For a text, reference or translation issue, include the translation abbreviation, book/chapter/verse and what looked wrong. Credits and Third-party notices are available in Settings.
What to include in your email
Send begin@helloorigo.com:
- A short description of what you expected and what happened.
- Steps that reproduce the problem, if you know them.
- The version and build shown in the app's Settings, your iPhone model and iOS version.
- The exact error message and, if useful, a screenshot with personal information removed.
Do not send passwords or Apple Account details. A full saved-data export can reveal your reading interests and searches; send one only if it is needed and you choose to share it. Screenshots may reveal the same information.
For privacy questions or a request about information you emailed us, use the same address. Our privacy policy explains the app's local data, backups, exports and support correspondence.
